A Weekend with Penny

We had the good fortune of spending the weekend with my parents to celebrate my Dad's birthday, which means Millie got to spend the entire weekend with her absolute, most bestest, favoritest friend in the world (and sister), Miss Penny. I felt guilty separating the two when we had to leave... Look at these two peas in a pod.

Warm Whispers...

Your warm whispers, out of the dark they carry my heart.
Even 5 years on, we still miss you every day little Sammy. I see a lot of you in Millie and can't help but wonder if you sent her here to watch over me in your absence. In any event, Mom and Dad and Kelley and I all think about you often, and I know your brother Spike misses you deeply. Though you never made it to old age, your brother at age 16 has channeled Kelso in her old age and will grumpily chase you down just like she did and bark for cookies with reckless abandon until you finally cave. I ponder whether the Kelso ornery genes would have taken over you in old age as well, but I'm not so sure. Though I may never know, one thing is certain, you are loved and missed every bit as much as you were 5 years ago. Love you Swammers!

Banjo's Political Debut

In the spirit of the upcoming presidential election, Banjo volunteered to be featured in Chuck Sambuchino's new book, Red Dog, Blue Dog: When Pooches Get Political. What I never knew,  however, was how strongly our little beagle felt about creationism. Pick up a copy on Amazon - it's a fun read, and of course, sweet little Banjo man is on page 99!

The world's coolest paddleboarding dog.

While on vacation in Duck, NC, I seriously missed Banjo and Millie. They've never been to the beach and I wanted to bring them along, but our rental property didn't allow pets. So in their absence (don't worry, they were having fun at the grandparents') I got my fix by watching this amazing dog go paddleboarding. I know how much Banjo hates water, but I can't help but wonder if Millie would have tried it with me. The world may never know.
